Today I will be looking at the new 3D capabilities not found in the previous Creative Suite (CS3 Extended). Features demonstrated: O Converting 2D images to 3D shapes - The new "3D" menu - Conversion to 3D O Working with 3D shapes - Moving the 3D object - Rotating the 3D object - Scaling the 3D object O Painting on 3D objects - Using regular Photoshop tools eg. brush, dodge, smudge on 3D shapes - Paint remains when rotating O Editing a flat texture - Painting on the flat texture of the object - Exporting it onto the object O 3D Advanced Workspace - Lighting tools - Materials - Textures - Other 3D tools My thoughts on the 3D capabilities I am very impressed with the 3D tools and how fast they are. I think it is amazing that I can use all the tools for 2D images on the 3D shape. I think editing the flat texture could do with a live preview as you are making changes whilst blind. There is a good selection of shapes eg. sphere, cube. But one thing that disappoints me is there is no ability to create a custom shape with lines. They should have added that feature instead of making the pointless "hat" shape. My thoughts on the program as a whole The regular tools run incredibly fast when editing 2D images and run a lot faster than expected on 3D shapes. There are a few minor additions which will speed up productivity which is very good. However, I feel very angry at Adobe as they say they have lots of new features powered by your graphics card. If you don't have a good system then these are useless to you. What Adobe have just added is something to make the faster computers faster. Not all tools work if you have a bad graphics card (that means me and my 72mb Unicorn :P). I will demonstrate canvas rotation, panning, zooming and other OpenGL features when I get a new computer in December. In fact, it may cause brain damage. Just, keep one thing in mind: this creation was born of boredom. Now, a little backstory. It was the summer of 2007. Three teenagers/cousins ((known to YouTube as AiriFox, Ventosx and Furyheart)) were vacationing in Florida. One sultry afternoon ((disregarding the fact just about EVERY Florida afternoon is sultry)), they were a bit bored and decided to whip up a movie with AiriFoxs nearly aquired Weavile and Kon plushies. Somehow, they got into their head that puppeting the plushies to The Lion Kings I Just Cant Wait To Be King would be an immensely cute and clever idea. They pulled it off, and adored this video. But when the file was accidentally wiped from Airis camera Sadness ensued. ? Fastforward to summer of 2008! YET AGAIN, these three are wreaking havoc in the Sunshine State. But A wave of nostalgia washes over them, and they decide to recreate the Kon/Weavile video but only BIGGER, BETTER AND WITH NALA ((since there was no Nala before)). And well That video is the very content youre about to watch/watching/already watched. So yeah. Theres a ton of things wrong with this. For one, the quality sucks. My little Sony cam can only pull off so much. Furthermore, I had two Kon plushies, and had to stick a flower to the ear of one to represent Nala ((fellow Bleach-tards out there may get a laugh out of that one)). YES, we end up using a Valentines bear and Gelert plushies at one point. XDDDDD And Ventosxs face pops in at the beginning. BUT REGARDLESS, take it for what its worth. Pointless, fun and silly.
