Joe grabbed Abby's hand tighter and lead her into the house. "Wow" Abby said and smiled. "You like?" Kevin said and smiled. "More like love" Abby said and looked at him. Joe and Abby sat on the couch next to each other and Kevin and Nick sat in each of the chairs. "So" Nick said smiling. "Are you... Joe's band? I've heard your names before" Abby said and looked at them. "Yup, I play guitar, drums... Kevin's the bass" Nick said to her. "Ok, that makes sense" she said and looked at Joe and he winked at her. "So, you hungry?" Kevin asked and made his way to the kitchen as they followed him. "Woah, nice kitchen" Abby said and smiled. Nick laughed. "Yeah... thanks" he said and went over to the counter. "Something smells really good" Joe said and put his nose in the air. "Yeah, cookies" Nick said and looked at the oven. "cookies?" Abby asked then smiled. "I like cookies, ok?" Nick said smiling at her. "Ooook.." she said and smiled. "dude I need a bathroom ASAP" Joe said and ran to the bathroom as Abby smiled and rolled her eyes. Once they heard the bathroom door shut Nick moved closer to Abby. "Look" he said looking into her eyes. "Joe's an awesome and nice guy, so if you're trying to use him... it's no use" he said seriously. "No, no I would never do something like that" Abby said to him. "We've heard that before" Kevin said to her and moved closer also. "Well, unlike the people that said that...I...I love Joe... he's just someone that I can be myself around and, he actually cares about me, I've never really had that from a guy before" Abby said seriously. "Oh" Nick and Kevin said at the same time. "And, I can understand why you guys would be doing this... but has he brought that many girls over before? Wow I thought this was like a huge thing..but" she said with an unsure look on her face, she looked like she was going to cry. "No, I didn't mean it like that... just cause he's dated girls that have been bitches, and broke his heart... and we'd hate for that to happen again" Kevin said to her. "Oh, well... you don't have to worry about that... unless he is the one that breaks up with me" Abby said and looked down. "Heyyyyy" Joe said and came behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her cheek. Abby smiled. "Hey" still looking down. "What did you do" Joe looked at Kevin and Nick. Abby laughed. "They did nothing" she said and laid her head back on his shoulder. "Mhm...sureeee" he said and smiled at them. The oven went off. "Yes, cookies!" Nick said and everyone busted up laughing. "You guys are supportive" he said sarcastically and went to take the cookies out. "NICK!!" Kevin screamed and made him stop. Nick looked at his hand. "A mitt might help" he said and grabbed one. Joe rolled his eyes and led Abby to the living room still holding onto her. They were alone while Kevin helped Nick with the cookies. Joe buried his face in Abby's neck and closed his eyes. Abby smiled. "Joe" she said to him. "Yeah?" he said and put his chin on her shoulder. "Did you mean it when you said you love me" she said seriously. Joe stopped and looked at her seriously. "Of course... why would you ask?" Joe said to her. "Um, just wondering" she said and sat down on the couch. "No, c'mon... what's wrong?" he said and sat next to her. "Nothing.." she said and fake smiled. "That is the worst fake smile I have ever seen" Joe said and smiled as he put a piece of her brown hair behind her ear. "You can tell me anything, you know that.. right" he said to her and made his eyes meet hers. "Yeah" Abby said and nodded. "COOKIES!!!" Nick said and came in with a plate of cookies. Abby took a cookie and ate it. "These are really good" she said and smiled at Joe. He winked at her and smiled. "HOTTT!!!!!!" Nick said and ran into the kitchen. Abby smiled at Joe as he smiled back. Katie x, Jerry Wexler, Atlantic Records legendary producer, describes Etta James as the greatest of all modern blues singers...the undisputed Earth Mother. Her raw, unharnessed vocals and hot-blooded eroticism has made disciples of singers ranging from Janis Joplin to Bonnie Raitt. James pioneering 1950s hits - The Wallflower and Good Rockin Daddy - assure her place in the early history of rock and roll alongside Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Ray Charles. In the Sixties, as a soulful singer of pop and blues diva compared with the likes of Dinah Washington and Billie Holiday, James truly found her musical direction and made a lasting mark. James was born Jamesette Hawkins in Los Angeles in 1938. Though brought up in the church, she was drawn to rhythm & blues and rock and roll, and by her midteens had formed a vocal trio that worked up an answer song to Hank Ballards Work With Me Annie entitled Roll With Me Henry. The trio caught the attention of bandleader Johnny Otis, who recorded Roll With Me Henry, which was retitled The Wallflower and topped the R&B chart for four weeks in 1955. James toured the R&B circuit with Otis and other artists and recorded for Modern Records until 1958. It was at the Chicago-based Chess label (where she recorded for Chess and its Argo and Cadet subsidiaries) that she molded her identity as a singer of both modern blues and pop-R&B ballads. She was signed by Leonard Chess in 1960 and had her talent nurtured by producer Ralph Bass and mentor Harvey Fuqua (of the Moonglows). James crossed over to the pop market as an interpreter of soulful, jazz-tinged ballads such as All I Could Do Was Cry, My Dearest Darling, Trust in Me and Dont Cry, Baby, which she sang without sacrificing her bluesy and churchy vocal mannerisms. In 1968, she adapted a grittier Southern-soul edge, cutting Tell Mama and Id Rather Go Blind, which remain among the most incendiary vocal performances of the era. All totaled, James launched thirty singles onto the R&B singles chart and placed a respectable nine of them in the pop Top Forty as well. For much of her career James battled heroin addiction, which has added to her aura as a survivor. A cleaned-up James made a successful comeback in the Seventies, re-signing with Chess in 1973 and opening for the Rolling Stones in 1978. In 1984, she sang When the Saints Go Marching In at the opening of the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. James has subsequently remained active on the touring and recording fronts, cutting the Grammy-nominated albums Seven Year Itch and Stickin to My Guns and reuniting with Jerry Wexler to record 1993s The Right Time with the simpatico Southern-soul musicians at Muscle Shoals Recording Studios. June 13, 1960: Etta James hits #2 on the R&B chart and #33 on the pop chart with the Modern single All I Could Do Was Cry. December 5, 1960: Etta James hits #34 with the Modern single My Dearest Darling. April 17, 1961: Etta James hits #30 with Trust In Me. 1961: Etta James hits #2 on the R&B chart with At Last, #4 on the R&B chart and #30 (4/17) on the pop chart with Trust In Me and #6 on the R&B chart and #39 (9/04) on the pop chart with Dont Cry, Baby.
