Born in Zimbabwe, now living in Johannesburg, South Africa, Jan Lamprecht has been involved with computer programming, consulting, etc., for the last 19 years. He has had an intense interest in offbeat subjects such as UFOs, etc., since his teenage years. His book, Hollow Planets was published in July 1999. He is currently working on a follow-up book which will concentrate on many Arctic mysteries and issues which have been long ignored. Hollow Planets book review: Could the Earth (and other planets) be hollow? I'm not sure, but Jan Lamprecht's book, HOLLOW PLANETS, provides plenty of reasons to at least not dismiss the idea out of hand. First, the negatives: A self published book, it has a number of typos and grammatical errors. Also, it seems to me that an editor's help could improve readability and reduce the 596 pages without any loss of substance. However, to anyone with an interest in the subject, these are not major problems. This book approaches the subject from a variety of scientific viewpoints. There is a chapter on legends, but no channeled material, spirit guides from inside Mt. Shasta, or other esoteric topics. Even without these subjects, though, this is not a one dimensional presentation. By my count, the book covers close to 120 different topics relating to the possibility of hollow planets. Beginning with a history of the idea, which includes hollow earth theories of Sir Edmund Halley and Leonhard Euler, it moves on to cover anomalies and alternative theories regarding gravitation, and then to geological and seismological considerations, the single most impressive section of the book. The next few chapters deal with observational anomalies regarding Mercury and Venus, followed by explorations of the earth's magnetic field, natural nuclear reactions, the aurora, radio waves, weather, legends, arctic exploration, polar hole speculation, plate tectonics and pole shifts. All of these areas touch upon multiple sub topics. While some topics are not so convincing on their own, they become more impressive when seen within the overall picture created by the author. This comprehensive view from several disciplines is the primary aspect that separates this from other books on the subject -- it is definitely not a re-hash of Gardner or Bernard. Also, the author's rejection, with supporting reasons, of previously held ideas, including some of the more popular ones (e.g., large openings near or at the geographic poles), is an indication of the effort he has put into his investigation, and his admission of having been mistaken about certain things is a refreshing change from the arrogance all too common among the scientific community. He doesn't claim to be a scientist himself, but the book is well documented with scientific references. Even if this book doesn't convince you that the earth is hollow, it should at least produce some question as to whether it is really so certain that it is indeed solid. At a minimum, it provides many questions which must be answered before the matter can be considered settled. I recommend it to anyone interested in this idea. When ancient Greek and Latin meet English, chaos ensues. The Romans said not 'Hail Zizar!' as in the English version, but 'Ar-way Kizer' (Ave Caesar). The Germans got it right with their Kaiser. The son of Julius Caesar and Cleopatra was called not 'Size-arion' (Caesarion) but Kaisarion. By August, 30BC, Julius Caesar, Cleopatra and Mark Antony were all dead and Kaisarion was the nominal ruler of Egypt. The invading Octavius Caesar, later called Augustus by the respectful Romans, who was a 'Caesar' because he had been adopted by Julius, coming into the presence of the boy pharaoh Kaisarion at Alexandria, is said to have spoken the words (referring to himself and the boy) "Two Caesars is one too many!" Kaisarion was murdered. So we drift back (drift back from the present moment in the year 2008AD) to that same city of Alexandria around the year 1916-1918AD and to Cavafy's flat in the Rue Lepsius where, book on knee, he is himself drifting fondly back to the year 30BC and recalling the to him magic being Kaisarion. Descrição do Vídeo: "Roger and Me" (1989) is document where Michael Moore report the slow but systematic fall of his hometown because of Roger Smith decision. Moore just want one thing bring Roger Smith to the town, so he can see with his own eyes the fallout. I wont spoiler, let me just say the one of last scene of this movie is very eerie and surreal. This is very interesting document, when every reported thing is scary, curious and funny. My favorite moment is interview with women breeding rabbits (for pets, and for meat), but all of this encounters with Flint's peasants are at least informative. Yeah, it's a manipulation by Moore like always (I hate his Fahrenheit because of that), but here he selected and arranged the moment in very powerful way. The situation is real, and the horror of it its more then real, when we see this hopeless, not very bright people who where just because of one man decision put on the highway to hell. And of course this movie is all about Moore. He is everywhere, non stop commenting, but the god-crusader from last scene of "Bowling for columbine" (Heston) is no where near here, and that's a good thing. This movie is just a well aimed shot, a punk-rock scream for a social injustice. This is art for document with power to stir up emotion and show people ugly things just the way they are: evictions, parades, idiotic city decision ignorance, foolishness, powerlessness its all powerful evil, and the last scene with very sad Christmas Carol its surreal.
