La música fue compuesta en 1938 por Matvey Blanter y la letra fue escrita por Mijaíl Isakovski. Fue interpretada por la célebre cantante folclórica Lidiya Ruslanova. Algunos críticos creen que Katiusha no fue una composición de Blanter, apuntando que una tonada similar fue usada por Ígor Stravinski en su ópera Mavra (1922), que más tarde adaptó a Chanson Russe (1937). Katiusha es un diminutivo tierno del nombre femenino Yekaterina (Catalina). En ruso, muchos nombres tienen diminutivos (aparte de los apodos).     • Descrição do Vídeo: Just happened upon a bathroom with good acoustics and decided it was another opportunity to try out a Russian tune (there will be more videos from this bathroom as I've already recorded some other things and I'll likely go back there to record more). If I had more space on my phone, I would try to prepare something more formal and complex, but this was just me trying to seeing what first came to me in about 45 seconds. I could have rerecorded, but I liked the first part. PS: I forgot when I was recording this that I was likely going to upload it and I needed it in landscape. Hopefully it's not too big a problem. It was stretching across when I first uploaded it, but now it seems to be alright.
