The fundamentals are all here, such as fighting dangerous creatures (optionally including other players), exploring the countryside either alone or in the company of other players, undertaking various quests, gaining experience levels and new abilities, and acquiring powerful items. However, directly comparing World of Warcraft with any of its predecessors would be almost like pitting a professional sports club against a school team. With all due respect to the other online role-playing games out there, World of Warcraft is in a league of its own. The game clearly benefits from not being the first of its kind, as the design issues that plagued previous online role-playing games are handled extremely well in World of Warcraft. In addition, the game's own subtle innovations turn out to have a dramatic impact on the flow of the action from minute to minute, hour to hour, day to day, and beyond. So the particulars of the game's design--along with its incredibly vast, beautiful, majestic world--translate into a one-of-a-kind experience that seems fresh and original in its own right. Fortunately, the game is very approachable. World of Warcraft is a complex game whose complexity is carefully disguised by a simple, highly legible, uncluttered interface and an impressive 3D graphics engine, which delivers high performance on a wide range of systems while not skimping on pure flash. The game's interface is so slick and easy to learn and understand, and the gameplay itself is so quickly intuitive, that there isn't even a tutorial to wade through; there are just some helpful, optional pop-up tool tips, as well as an excellent printed reference manual that goes into specific detail about most of the various aspects of play. It's also important to point out that World of Warcraft runs fast and smooth. You can go from your desktop to being in-game in just seconds, and it's virtually just one great, big, seamless world. Loading times are as rare as they are brief. They only crop up when traveling across the game's enormous continents or entering some specific higher-level zones that are instanced for each player group, which guarantees you a fresh challenge. So World of Warcraft is painless to get into--with the possible exception of you needing a credit card or prepaid game card to create an account, as well as initially deciding on which sort of character to play, since so many of the options seem like they could be interesting. And it turns out they are. So why not try them all? The game lets you create multiple characters on the dozens of different available "realms," each of which is a unique instance of the gameworld that is capable of hosting thousands of simultaneous players. Some of the realms cater to role-playing fans that prefer to play in character the whole time, while other realms are custom-tailored for player-versus-player action. Regardless, World of Warcraft's realms are nicely (if not densely) populated already, and the unfortunate issues with login and lag that plagued the game when it first launched were mostly taken care of in a matter of days. The game just has a solid feel to it that's uncharacteristic of the genre, and for an online RPG, World of Warcraft is surprisingly responsive. Actually, no qualifications are necessary: World of Warcraft boasts the tight control and polished presentation that's desirable in any kind of game. Creeping through the shadows in a room full of cargo crates, Riddick is hidden yet surrounded by a number of drone soldiers--mindless automatons that patrol the ship and that can be remote-controlled by members of the Dark Athena's crew. Skulking in the shadows, Riddick sneaks up behind an unwitting drone, takes him out, and tries to take his weapon from him. But wait--the gun is attached to the drone's hand. No problem for Riddick; he simply picks up the drone and begins blasting the other enemies to bits with the attached weapon. It's just one of the grimly enjoyable approaches to combat in the upcoming The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, which we had a chance to check out at a recent Atari press event. Though the game was initially conceived as a fairly straightforward remake of the classic original Xbox game, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay, the developers at Tigon Studios and Starbreeze have pushed the project beyond a mere port to include both a remake of the original game and an entirely new chapter in the Riddick storyline, Assault on Dark Athena. Picking up more or less directly after the events in Escape From Butcher Bay, Assault on Dark Athena finds Riddick and his captor, the bounty hunter Johns, onboard the Dark Athena, a pirate craft that's led by a mysterious captain that Riddick might have a history with. After being locked in cryostasis for a good long stretch, Riddick--being the badass that he is--manages to wake himself up and begins stalking the corridors of the Athena, looking to escape. During the demo, the developers at Starbreeze showed off the trademark multiple gameplay elements that began with the original game and certainly continue here. Stealth is obviously a big part of the fun here, with Riddick sticking to the shadows (complete with the familiar blue tint to the screen when Riddick is concealed), and either sneaking around, or sneaking up on, his enemies. Then there's the wet work with the aforementioned ulaks that Riddick acquires early on in the Dark Athena storyline. They're perfect for making short work of an opponent you've snuck up on, and they seem to be pretty effective even in a face-to-face fight. Israel - A 'Head' for a Tooth... because it best describes my feelings in regard to the totally disproportionate manner in which Israel responds to attacks against it. I am a very strong advocate of Israel's right to defend itself. It is 'a right' that I afford to everyone. However, as far as Israel is concerned, it is never a case of 'an eye for an eye'... where responses to an attack are only as severe as the attack itself. Israel goes far beyond what could be described as 'defending itself' to the extent that its actions are just downright 'murder'... and once they cross the line... any respect or sympathy that I may have for them, goes flying out the window !!! A key factor in defending yourself against having innocent people killed, is to ensure that your actions don't cause more innocent people to be killed. Go after the perpetrators by all means... but don't do so in such a callous manner that results in hundreds of innocent people being killed or injured. I don't go for this 'collateral damage' crap ! The people of Gaza are trapped in Gaza. They don't have the luxury of being able to leave town until things quieten down. Israel's stranglehold over Gaza, means that the People of Gaza are stuck there, with little or no protection from the heavy bombardment that Israel throws at them. Don't give me garbage about how they can hide in shelters like the people of Sderot have to do. We aren't talking about 'homemade rockets' that put a bloody hole in your roof... Israel's weapons destroy the entire building... and anybody taking shelter within them, gets killed !!! I often refer to Israel as being a Terrorist Nation... and it is because of the totally disproportionate manner in which Israel responds to attacks. Anybody who seriously thinks that Israel's actions will prevent future attacks, is bonkers ! Look at how many innocent people have been killed in this latest action in Gaza. The vast majority of them are children. If you think that you can go into a town and kill scores of innocent children, and not expect further retaliation, then you obviously haven't had someone kill your kids ! It is well past time for Israel to be held accountable for the disgraceful manner in which its Military has cost the lives of so many innocent people. Unless they are brought into line, I fear that the final outcome will see Israel being levelled to the ground under the force of Nuclear Weapons action that will attract very little sympathy from the World Community ! I do sympathise with Israel for the repeated barrage of Missiles they have fired at them and I condemn Hamas for firing those weapons toward civilian targets. Enough is Enough Settle your differences around a Negotiating Table like civilized human beings, and put an end to the disgracefully shameful actions of the past. Failure to do so, will ultimately result in any support that you may have had from the International Community, being replaced with utter contempt ! Learn from the lessons of the past the condemnation of Adolf Hitler and the pain of Hiroshima !!! Stating that he "always keep in my head" the vision of victory over Barrera, he seemed to note that when Marco survived the third round, he knew it would be a long night. Not surprisingly, Pacquiao expressed absolute eagerness to rematch Barrera, and to take any and all comers. That night was beyond big for this little dynamo of a champion. Stepping up a few pounds took away not a whit of his speed and power. And after an introduction like this, we can only wonder who has the guts to step up and take him on. When a fighter like this comes along with such an astounding breakthrough performance, it is a true pleasure to be surprised and awestruck: Pugilistic evolution - or at least natural selection - took place at the Alamodome. Descrição do Vídeo: ADAM & PAULADAM & PAULADAM & PAUL PART4 ADAM & PAUL PART 3 adamAdam & Paul (2004)While shooting this movie, the director also had to keep shooting commercial video clips, his regular money job, because of the very low film budget. The two lead actors, Tom Murphy who plays Paul (the short one) and Mark O'Halloran who plays Adam (the tall one), were told by the local Garda ( Irish Police) to leave the set as the Garda thought they were real junkies looking to steal items from the set. The film's unit was tiny - one truck for camera, props and make-up and one minivan for the cast and crew. It takes some work to make anyone feel sorry for junkies but 'Adam and Paul' is a film that succeeds beyond any expectation. Yes, it shows the appalling lives of two junkies who have clearly been 'down so long' they have pretty much lost contact with reality, but it also makes you laugh, for even in their lives there is sometimes something amusing. It's grim and the words 'with hilarious consequences' are not going to appear in my review, but the film does show there is still some humanity in them, particularly in the scenes with their pal. Yes, their condition makes them dislikeable people who are always on the look out for money to steal and people to scam from, but we are asked to appreciate that there is a glimmer of hope: no matter how dim.
