Descrição do Vídeo: January 9, 2009 A protest over the fatal shooting by a BART police officer of an unarmed man mushroomed into several hours of violence Wednesday night as demonstrators smashed storefronts and cars, set several cars ablaze and blocked streets in downtown Oakland. The roving mob expressed fury at police and frustration over societys racial injustice. Yet the demonstrators were often indiscriminate, frequently targeting the businesses and prized possessions of people of color. They smashed a hair salon, a pharmacy and several restaurants. Police in riot gear tried to control the crowd, but some people retreated along 14th Street and bashed cars along the way. The mob smashed the windows at Creative African Braids on 14th Street, and a woman walked out of the shop holding a baby in her arms. This is our business, shouted Leemu Topka, the black owner of the salon she started four years ago. This is our shop. This is what you call a protest? Wednesday nights vandalism victims had nothing to do with the shooting death by a BART police officer of Oscar Grant on New Years Day - but that did little to sway the mob. Descrição do Vídeo: The Penn Central was a railroad suspended in financial limbo when Emery Gulash shot these scenes in the mid-1970s. Bankrupt since 1970, the re-organization court had decided in May 1974 that, based on its income, the PC was not re-organizable. The future of the PC and a number of other bankrupt railroads in the Northeast was placed in the hands of a government agency, the United States Railway Association. The middle of the decade was the worst of times for the PC. It may not have been the best of times for the trackside observers watching the Penn Centrals trains in action but the urgency was there to record on film all that they could before the curtain dropped on the large fleet of Brunswick Green locomotives, even as their appearance became a little shabbier. The rail action on the PC was definitely dynamic. Eventually, Conrail picked up the pieces but that is for the next program in our Penn Central series. Descrição do Vídeo: The Buran spacecraft (Russian: ?????, "Snowstorm" or "Blizzard"), GRAU index 11F35 K1, was the only fully completed and operational space shuttle vehicle from the Soviet Buran program. With a design that borrowed heavily from the American Space Shuttle, the Buran completed one unmanned spaceflight in 1988 before cancellation of the Soviet shuttle program in 1993. The Buran was subsequently destroyed by a hangar collapse in 2002. Like its American counterpart, the Buran, when in transit from its landing sites back to the launch complex, was transported on the back of a large jet aeroplane. It was piggy-backed on the Antonov An-225 Mriya aircraft, which was designed for this task and remains the largest aircraft in the world. Several shuttles were produced. One of those, the OK-GLI, was modified to fly with jet engines for aerodynamic testing. One painted mock shuttle (the former static test-article OK-TVA) is now a ride simulating space flight in Gorky Park, Moscow. The OK-GLI was sold by its owner NPO Energia, shipped to Sydney in Australia and subsequently displayed at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. Shortly after, the new owner went bankrupt and the OK-GLI shuttle then went to Bahrain for a number of years while legal ownership status was in dispute. The Sydney/Bahrain (OK-GLI) shuttle was acquired by the German Technikmuseum Speyer in 2004,[2] and has been transported to the museum, where it is exhibited to the general public. Noah Shachtman, writing for Wired, posts an Air Force flowchart used for counter-blogging purposes. In a twelve-point plan, put together by the emerging technology division of the Air Forces public affairs arm, airmen are given guidance on how to handle trolls, ragers ? and even well-informed online writers, too. Its all part of an Air Force push to counter the people out there in the blogosphere who have negative opinions about the U.S. government and the Air Force, Captain David Faggard says, Shachtman writes. In the case of the Infowars and Prison Planet websites, Centcom operatives do not respond to trolls and ragers. In fact, many of them seem to be the most vociferous trolls and ragers. On October 16, 2006, Raw Story reported that the United States Central Command sent an email to bloggers on the subject of the GWOT, or so-called global war on terror, as part of the Pentagons engagement operations. Now [online readers] have the opportunity to read positive stories. At least the public can go there and see the whole story, said Maj. Richard J. McNorton. The public wants to hear these good stories. In fact, the public gets these ostensibly good stories via the corporate media that acts as a propaganda conduit for the government and the Pentagon. Ive always thought that a military-like process would be a good bridge to connect the services with the blogosphere. A 2003 Pentagon document entitled the Information Operation Roadmap, released to the public after a FOIA request by the National Security Archive at George Washington University in 2006, characterizes the internet as if it were an enemy weapons system. Networks are increasingly the operational center of gravity, and the Department must be prepared to fight the net DoDs Defense in Depth strategy should operate on the premise that the Department will fight the net as it would a weapons system. Unleashing trolls and ragers who consider blogs and websites opposed to the government as an enemy weapons system is only part of the overall plan to conquer and dominate the internet. But, these videos reflect a moribund Turkish Denialist Movement, flailing in a sea of morally-bankrupt dishonesty,' Musurlian said." Mr. Musurlian was criticizing the two videos calling him on his genocide antics, "Portrait of a Genocide Man: Peter Musurlian," and "The Peter Musurlian Guide to Fairness & Accuracy in 'Journalism.'" The former was removed by a YouTube moderator, despite non-violation of any of YouTube's flagging or copyright guidelines. It was very frustrating to understand why, as YouTube can sometimes be draconian with its decisions; they do not permit any arbitration, or explanation. However, Mr. Musurlian explained the reason in his press release: "The...10-minute video... was pulled by YouTube, following a complaint about the use of an 18-month-old boy and his father, at a Turkish Consulate protest on April 24. The video explicitly stated that the man, a UCLA-educated doctor, was teaching his young son to hate Turks." The video, of course, did not just make an empty assertion, but powerfully demonstrated, with historical facts, the motivations behind genocide protests. Anti-Turkism and racism are what fuel most Armenians' genocide passions, since there is no evidence to prove an extermination plan by the Ottoman government. Mr. Musurlian's doctor friend can clearly be seen using his innocent boy as an instrument to pass on genocide hatred, just as Mr. Musurlian can be seen passing on his hatred to his innocent daughter, in Mr. Musurlian's "Armenian Genocide? Krekorian Reams Turks @ Consulate in L.A."
