Its a shame production stopped at episode #53 as it seems like he was steadily improving and really getting into the character. Unfortunately (IMO), he never really regained this passion when he returned for the episode #108-276 dubbing (in 2000) and his departure from the character at episode #143 is possible evidence for this.
