Descrição do Vídeo: Connie Francis was born Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero in Newark, New Jersey. She is considered the most prolific and popular female rock 'n' roll hit-maker of the early rock era ? the late 1950s to the early 1960s. She changed her name to Francis because it was more easily pronounceable. After the failure of her first few demos, a cover version of the song "Who's Sorry Now?" launched Francis into super-stardom worldwide. On January 1, 1958, the song debuted on Dick Clark's American Bandstand television show, and by mid-year over a million copies were sold. In April 1958, "Who's Sorry Now" reached number one on the UK Singles Chart and number four in the USA. This was followed by many other hits over the next decade, as Connie Francis became one of the most popular vocalists in the world. While searching for a new hit immediately after her 1958 single Who's Sorry Now? became a success, she was introduced to Neil Sedaka and Howard Greenfield. Sedaka played Stupid Cupid with Greenfield for Francis. As soon as they finished playing the song, Francis told them that they had just played her new hit record. Francis' song reached #14 on the Billboard charts. Through the rest of her early career Sedaka and Greenfield wrote many of Connie Francis' hits such as Fallin and Where the Boys Are. Connie specialized in downbeat ballads (often remakes of old standards) delivered in her trademark "sobbing" style, such as "My Happiness", "I'm Sorry I Made You Cry", "Among My Souvenirs", "Together", "Breakin' In a Brand New Broken Heart", and the Italian song "Mama". However, she also had success with a handful of more upbeat, rock-and-roll-oriented compositions, such as "Stupid Cupid", "Lipstick On Your Collar", "Robot Man" and "Vacation". Both "Everybody's Somebody's Fool" and "My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own" went to number one on the Billboard music charts in 1960. In 1962, Francis had another number one hit with "Don't Break the Heart That Loves You". In the 1960 motion picture Where the Boys Are Connie was able to highlight her acting talents to a broader range of audiences. During the first half of the 1960s, she starred in three additional films: Follow the Boys (1963) (the title song of which became a No. 17 Billboard single for Francis), Looking for Love (1964), and When the Boys Meet the Girls (1965). In 1960, Francis became the youngest headliner to sing in Las Vegas, where she played 28 days a year for nine years. In 1961, she starred in her own television special on ABC television sponsored by Brylcreem titled Kicking Sound Around, singing and acting alongside Tab Hunter, Eddie Foy Jr. and Art Carney. Francis appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show on July 1, 1962 with French singing star Johnny Hallyday in a show that was taped at the famous Moulin Rouge nightclub in Paris, France. On July 3, 1963, she played a Command performance before Queen Elizabeth II at the Alhambra Theatre in Glasgow, Scotland. By 1967, Francis had 35 U.S. Top 40 hits, three of which were number ones. During the height of the Vietnam War in 1967, Connie Francis performed for U.S. troops. Francis ended her recording career in 1969. She returned in 1973 with "The Answer", a song written just for her, and soon began performing again. In 2000, "Who's Sorry Now?" was named one of the Songs of the Century. Her latest CD The American Tour contains performances from recent shows. In late December 2004, Francis headlined in Las Vegas for the first time since 1989. In March and October 2007, Francis performed to sold-out crowds at the Castro Theater in San Francisco. In December 2007, Connie Francis was inducted into the Hit Parade Hall of Fame. Francis appeared in concert in Manila, the Philippines, on Valentine's Day 2008. Data: January 9, 2009 Vídeos Relacionados: : pop rock | ![]() |

Descrição do Vídeo: Convicted murderer Aileen Wuornos final words before being executed by lethal injection in October 2002 in Florida, were -- "I'd just like to say I'm sailing with the rock, and I'll be back like Independence Day, with Jesus June 6. Like the movie, big mother ship and all, I'll be back." Aileen Wuornous (February 29 1956 - October 9, 2002) was born in Michigan and abandoned by her parents at a young age. By the time she was in her teens she was working as a prostitute and robbing people to support herself. In 1989 and 1990, Wuornos shot, killed and robbed at least six men . In January of 1991, after her fingerprints were found on evidence located by police, she was arrested and tried and received a total of six death sentences. She earned an inaccurate label by the press of being the first American serial killer. In the end, she fired her attorney, dropped all appeals and asked that her execution take place as soon as possible. Descrição do Vídeo: Tashan was one of those artists from the mid 80's to early 90's who didn't fit into the era. He was somewhat close to what people would label as neo-soul today. His first two albums Chasin A Dream and On The Horizon were released in 1986 and 1989 respectively, which were great album that didn't make noise in the world of R&B at the time. In 1993, He released his final album For Love's Sake including the first single "Love Is Forever" that went for a more New Jack Swing sound. Unfortunately, he didn't gain commercial success by going a different route, but this is definitely a hot song. Descrição do Vídeo: 1989) The song was full of various influences, including those of the Heartbreakers, as it was co-written by Mike Campbell, along with Petty and Jeff Lynne. It was also a nod to Petty's musical roots, with the lyric me and Del were singin' "Little Runaway" making reference to Del Shannon and "Runaway". "Runnin'" was the thematic and musical inverse to the same album's "Free Fallin'", motion in kind but direction in difference. The main riff was propulsive, instantiating itself in a battle of acoustic guitar against snare drum with fuzz guitar laced underneath and with vocal "ooh-oooh"s keeping that sense in full mind throughout.[weasel words] The music video for "Runnin'", directed by Jim Lenahan, featured animation, based on several episodes of the classic comic strip Little Nemo in Slumberland by Winsor McCay, featuring a drawing style reminiscent of McCay's and showing Petty and a character who resembles Flip travelling through Slumberland. "Runnin'" achieved reasonable chart success, reaching number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart and the top of the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, which meant in practice considerable airplay then on album-oriented rock stations. It has since garnered significant airplay on classic rock stations. It was used on the soundtrack for the videogame Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and was the official theme song of the 2006 NBA Finals as well as the 2008 NBA Finals. It closed Petty and the Heartbreakers' performance at the February 2008 Super Bowl XLII Halftime Show,[2] encoda'ed with a long Mike Campbell guitar solo. It was also used in promotional segments of the the 2008 MLB World Series. _______________________________ Thomas Earl "Tom" Petty (born October 20, 1950) is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He is the frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and a member of Mudcrutch. He was also a member of the supergroup the Traveling Wilburys under the pseudonym of Charlie T. Wilbury, Jr. He has recorded a number of hit singles, many of which remain heavily played on adult contemporary and classic rock radio. Likewise, his music, most notably his hits, have become increasingly popular among younger generations as he continues to host sold out shows in his recent tour dates. Petty is also a vocal critic of the modern recording industry and the disappearance of independent radio stations. Petty has been supported by his band, The Heartbreakers, for the majority of his career. He has occasionally released solo work, as is the case with 2006's Highway Companion[2], on which he performed most of the backing instrumentation himself. However, members of The Heartbreakers have played on each of his solo albums and the band has always backed him when touring in support of those albums. He has also toured with Mudcrutch in order to promote their debut album. Petty has been managed by Tony Dimitriades since 1976. On February 3, 2008, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers performed at the Super Bowl XLII Halftime show. Descrição do Vídeo: Gladys Knight singing the title song to the 1989 Bond movie "Licence to Kill", starring Timothy Dalton. I thought this was a pretty good movie, with Timothy Dalton trying to take the character back to his roots and playing him as Ian Fleming had written him. A much darker and tougher Bond, which I am glad to see Daniel Craig is doing too. Bond is a killer, pure and simple, and the reality of that should be paramount in the movies. I found Roger Moore's portrayal of Bond as being too soft, and played mostly for gags, and unfortunately so were a few of Sean Connery's movies. I regarded Sean Connery as the best Bond until Daniel Craig, who is doing a great job and playing Bond as he should be played.
