Descrição do Vídeo: Went striper fishing in the Delta with Craig Wood and grand son Trevor Watts, for a couple days. It was great trip with good company. We stayed at Sandy Beach Campground near the shore of the Sacramento River just 1.5 miles west of Rio Vista on the north side of the River. Pull through spaces and easy to work with Ranger made staying there enjoyable. We were fishing at anchor for stripers using exclusively the SBR? (Shad Bullet Rotator?) We purchase a pound of shad at Haps Bait in Rio Vista which last for all the time we were there, as SBR? get a lot of milage out of a shad and in some cases caught more that one fish on a shad. We were running small weights with some poles just sliders and some with a dropper weights and some with a splitter with weight on one side and the leader on the other side. We used our favorite scents and of which one was shrimp oil and the other was a shad bang and other favorite scents used in the Delta. We fished all the way from Rio Vista, Decker Power lines and even down as far as Antioch area. No certain area was hot for us. I ran mostly just plain shad with scent and with hooks free hanging and occasionally I filet back one side from tail up so some flesh was exposed as recommend by Sal. Craig did a flop butterfly which also was rigged in the SBR?. On the last day I ran a FBR? (Franko Bullet Rotator?) on one rod (2 rod stamps) for a short period before leaving for home an just before the rain arrived. We caught 2 catfish many stripers and one squaw-fish and one sturgeon, all on the SBR? with shad. Below is a video of some of our action so you too could get a feel for the fabulous Delta fishing available to you with just a short ride from the Bay area. Got into them right away...with first one on a clear FBR? at 90 feet depth on downrigger. Shortly the second salmon came on a red FBR at 90 feet on the wire. Had more take downs but nobody home. Weather was turning bad and headed back before it got to rough. The Hog Farm is the 300 foot line around Point Pinos and is referred to that as that where a lot of big hog salmon or caught real early in the season. This is a beautiful Coastline area near Monterey and Camel and not far from the ramp. Descrição do Vídeo: On October 18th 2008 Bill Shelton and Chris Pollastrini did an underwater salmon survey at Duxbury Reef. The aquatic fish attractor of choice was the FBR? salmon trolling lure. We were running mini lights with 4 pieces of yarn going back 2 inches pass the tail. This will have them biting the yarn instead of the anchovy so we don't have to change baits to often, and slows the spin and more wobble. We were running very short leaders which spooks them some as compared to none camera 4 foot leader trolling. We were aboard my aluminum 22 foot Habercraft boat. We were using Bob Franko (Coastside Fishing Clubs) Splashcam and Richard Pacheo Atlantic under water video camera and Bill Shelton above water cameras. Thanks Bob and Richard. We launched at Sausilito California and went directly to the Duxbury Reef buoy. All the salmon as well as some shots of smelt were taken with 300 yards of the buoy. We trolled at the bottom of the throttle at 25 feet on the Spectra on the downrigger. We used anchovy no hooks or sleaves were used and we had yarn attached to the FBR? to simulate a hookup as the yarn sticks to their teeth. The salmon attacks came in packs up to five as well as some single attacks. All salmon were of a large size as generally expected this time of year at Duxbury Reef. We ran through 3 or 4 schools of Jellyfish, however they were no problem as the FBR? spins through them well. Overall we were very excited to see so many salmon in a very confined area we trolled as we limited it to circling the buoy. All the underwater video pictured in this video was shot on Oct. 18th at Duxbury Reef. I hope you enjoy the video as we surely need a reason for hope on ever having a salmon season in the near future. Thank you Chris for coming a long and assisting me with this underwater filming, you were a pleasure to spend time with and surely would be welcome anytime. We ran one rod until noon then I got the second camera going for a short while then off to rock fishing. We SFD?ed 3 canary rockfish then pull up and move out to play with halibut for a while. Chris got a sand dab for supper. No salmon were harmed or hooked while making this film. Total camera time on camera one trolling was approximately 4 hours and 45 minutes on camera 2. On camera 2 we had problems because it was difficult to see because we were monitoring on a tiny screen. We had a TV on the other camera and recording it in analog and then converted it to digital. Thanks Bill Shelton Quicktime of the video for Mac or PC http://www.sheltonproducts.com/Duzburysalmonsurvey.mov Widow Media Player version for PC or Mac http://www.sheltonproducts.com/Duzburysalmonsurvey.wmv . Descrição do Vídeo: Fished the Lake Shasta Lake Trout Derby this weekend with rep Ray Link. We left on thursday morning and drove up in very windy condition which remain with us through Saturday making it fun to fish with boat control being a full time job. We had our share of tangles during the pre-fish as we were pulling different lures. On the tournament days we pulled identical setups so very few tangles even tho wind remained a boat control job but the fish were biting like wild dogs. I only brought back two fish so catch and release was the norm except for tournament fish. There were 150 fishermen in the tournament and we were just outside the money on our weights. Used baby Minnow Bullet Rotator? on pre-fish and Shasta tackle stuff on tournament days. Saw Tran and his fishing buddy. Saw Harold Jones of Sugarloaf Cottage Resort a long time friend and stayed with Gary Mirales of Shasta Tackle. Event held at Bass Hole Bar and Grill in Lakehead, California. The Lake is very low with only a couple of launches open and low water bring all the boats in favorite hot bite areas and making watching where you were going just like a hot salmon bite on the ocean.
