Fishing the Grove slam 2012 tournament when we Foul Hooked this beautiful 30+ pounder. Had the chance to gaff it, but the 6 ft gaff just wasnt lonmg enough and he spooked hard enough to pull the hook through. Deep sea offshore saltwater big game sport fishing trip video trolling adventure in Hong Kong, Asia (not Abu Dhabi Dubai Fujairah UAE Oman Kuwait Bahrain Doha Miami Beach or Bimini Bahamas) in the South China sea. We fished in a Hong Kong private tournament on a 1982 Egg Harbor Sportfisher and left Aberdeen marina early in the morning. We trolled all morning without a bite as the sea was choppy and rough. When the weather calmed down in the afternoon we caught several small Mahi Mahi (Dorados, Dolphinfish). The fish were small schoolies and we released the smallest one. GameFishingVanuatu.com Rohan decided to have a shot at Vanuatu sports fishing while he was here holidaying with his family. We headed out to the Pango FAD on Shogun for a 6 hour trip and on the way out we were in search of a blue marlin. There was yellow fin jumping everywhere when we arrived but we couldn't catch any. We tried deploying a couple of drift baits and in no time at all we had a mahi-mahi jumping out behind the boat. We ended up boating a 15.5 kg mahi-mahi on 15kg tackle.We moved onto some some jigging and did quite well with 5 or 6 yellow fin being jigged up. One of the yewllow fin was deployed as a live bait and another as a dead bait. After about 5 min we had a reel screaming and another mahi-mahi had eaten the dead bait and was leaping all over the place. This one fell off on the way to the boat. We fished our way back home looking for that elusive marlin but no joy today. All in all it was a great day Vanuatu sports Fishing. |
