Zookeepers say some animals like antelopes have to be kept indoors so they don't slip on the ice and hurt themselves. STORY: It's perfect weather for polar bears. And Knut, Berlin Zoo's most famous resident, could think of nothing better than splashing about in his icy pool as temperatures in the German capital hovered around minus eight degrees Celsius. Knut wasn't the only one enjoying the Arctic conditions. And elephants can also have fun in the snow, says Andre Schuele, a vet at Berlin Zoo. [Andre Schuele, Berlin Zoo Vet]: "As it isn't windy or raining at the moment, they can be let out too. But their well-heated house is waiting for them, where after a few hours they can go and warm themselves up." But the zoo says other animals don't find frosty weather quite so agreeable - and need special looking after when temperatures plummet. [Andre Schuele, Berlin Zoo Vet]: "There are other animals which we have to keep inside, such as antelopes, which make big jumps and run in zig zags around the outdoor enclosures, so there's the danger that they could slip on the large iced-over surfaces and even break a leg." Animals like the antelope will have to stay indoors for a bit longer. Freezing conditions are expected to continue for the next few days which will make Knut and his polar bear friends very happy. Descrição do Vídeo: ***PLEASE READ *** sherbert died last night, on the 3rd of jan. :( death was unknown but the baddness [:(] happened with an impaction but we got it cleared by a vet. we found her on her back coming from a b-day party but we then gave her a warm bath but she sooned died in my hands. or so we thought! she woke up from her ?death? and seemed fine for a couple of minutes. we took her back to her cage and got her warmed up where she finally went poop (which she hadn't done in a while) so we picked her up sat down on my bed and she fought to stay alive until the very last second when she went limb in my hand my family gathered around. we put her in a soft bed of moss covered by tissue and laid tissue over her body. the good part is she's not suffering any more and she will live a good life now. another gecko is in my future but is not set in stone. thanks for reading:) Data: January 6, 2009 Vídeos Relacionados: : death tears sad gecko leopard |  |
